NPD FACEBOOK POST - 9/11 Post(9/11/14)

Hi Everyone,

Today is 9/11/14 – It is of course a day to remember. Please take time today to think about those that lost their lives on 9/11/01 and to remember.

I have shared on this post a photo taken of several members of the Naugatuck Police Department that dropped what they were doing, scrambled together and organized what they thought they would need to assist the emergency workers at the World Trade Center on the night of 9/11/01.

It should also be mentioned that not only those in the photograph went into action that day, but that many other NPD officers stayed behind and helped by working additional shifts here in Naugatuck, under much uncertainty during that time, to cover shifts for those that responded to NYC.

This was a great example of team work and dedication to service that the Officers of the Naugatuck Police Department showed then and continue today.

I have attached a link of an interview that Detective Paul Markette (pictured on the far left of the NPD 9/11/11 photo) took part of on the 10th anniversary of 9/11 for AFSCME, the council for the Naugatuck Police Union. The interview describes what many AFSMCE emergency services members did to assist with the recovery efforts at the World Trade Center on 9/11/01 and the days that followed. The interview is displayed on the AFSCME web site.

The men and women of the Naugatuck Police Department salute those who lost their lives on 9/11/01, those that defended the United States of America and those that lost their lives in doing so… and we will never forget.
