The Naugatuck Police Department congratulates Naugatuck Firefighters Tim Andrew and Tommy Moore who were honored Thursday with the Community Service Firemark Award from Liberty Mutual. Residents nominated them for the award, which goes to firefighters who have volunteered in the community. Moore, as union vice president, organizes annual boot drives for muscular dystrophy and Toys for Tots, while Andrew runs races to benefit people with disabilities. This was the first year the award was presented to borough firefighters.

Ducks of Sandy Hook
Officer Keeping is a Monroe Police Officer, assigned as the School Resource Officer for the temporary Sandy Hook Elementary School in Monroe. Through his own initiative he has begun a program in which he has been handing out small ducks to other law enforcement agencies and public figures. Officer Keeping then posts photos of these same ducks in their various locations via facebook.

This program has been very popular with the students of the school and with other law enforcement agencies such as those in Fairfield County that have been carrying ducks in their cruisers as a show of support.

The Naugatuck PD has received a duck which we will post as our cover photo on our facebook Page along with our Department Patch.
