7/22/2016 - 7/22/16 NPD Call Activity Report for Thursday 7.21.16

Good Friday morning all,

We have successfully made it to the weekend! – Typical mid summer day is predicted as we will have high heat and humidity … followed by the chance of storms during the late afternoon and evening…. Please be cautious if you are stuck driving in the rain… slow down and please leave yourself some extra time….

As most of you know, the NPD sent out a press release detailing a domestic incident in which the adult female victim was shot once in the back by the male suspect who fled the scene. The victim luckily suffered non-life threatening injuries and was treated and released form a local hospital.

…..Connecticut State Police assisted Naugatuck Officers and Detectives in processing the scene here in Naugatuck while other officers and detectives worked to track the suspect via his cell phone.

…..Naugatuck officers were assisted by Connecticut State Police in the track and located the suspect in New Haven along with the assistance of the New Haven PD. Upon officers coming in contact with the suspect he made a sudden stop causing a minor collision. As officers began to approach the suspect he shot himself in the head.

…This is a sad outcome for what is unfortunately an all too real problem of domestic violence cases that have hit this community hard over the past few days

…..Naugatuck officers and detectives did tremendous job of immediately pursuing the investigation and quickly tracking the suspect. The NPD would like to thank the other agencies that helped with this speedy yet thorough investigation including the Connecticut State Police and the New Haven Police Departments .

…We would also like to thank the many members of this community that have offered words of support to our officers , not only during these recent incident but over the past few weeks  … those words and thoughts are greatly appreciated …. Thank you!!
