At 3:29 PM Naugatuck Police responded to a reported domestic dispute involving shots fired. The incident occurred on Washington Street in Naugatuck. The victim, who was shot in the back, was treated and released from a local hospital and suffered non-life threatening injuries.

 

The suspect, identified as Mr. James Michael Batista (DOB 12/18/1986) fled the scene and was immediately tracked by cell phone signal by Naugatuck police with the assistance of the Connecticut State Police.

 

The cell phone signal track led officers to New Haven where the suspect’s vehicle was located by officers from Naugatuck, New Haven and the Connecticut State Police at about 5:46 PM. When the suspect spotted police he stopped suddenly causing a minor collision with a Naugatuck Police SUV. While seated in his vehicle the suspect shot himself in the head.

 

The suspect was treated and transported to Yale New Haven Hospital for life threatening injuries. The suspect is still listed to be in critical condition.

 

 Naugatuck Police are investigating the shooting in Naugatuck with the assistance of the Connecticut State Police Major Crime. The New Haven Police Department is investigating the collision and the self-inflicted shooting.

At 3:29 PM Naugatuck Police responded to a reported domestic dispute involving shots fired. The incident occurred on Washington Street in Naugatuck. The victim was shot in the back and has suffered what appear to be non-life threatening injuries.

 

The suspect fled the scene and is being sought by Naugatuck Police. Connecticut State Police Major Crime has been contacted and will be assisting Naugatuck Police with the investigation.
