4/22/2016 - 4/22/16 - Suspicious Person - Girls Scout Cookie Sales

Greetings All…

We are looking for some help from our fine citizens …. This one is a little bizarre … so please stick with me here…

We have received several  complaints over the past few days of a suspicious person … the person is said to be out soliciting sales of “girl scout cookies” … and is using what we believe is an approximately  10 yrs old female (possibly the subjects daughter) to help him.

We have looked into the calls and have found that the people calling us felt the individual is not really selling Girl Scout cookies because he is using what appears to be a very poor quality copy of a girl scout cookie sales form …. And when soliciting he sometimes changes his story to say that he is selling “baked goods” , not girl scout cookies… He has also stated that he is selling the cookies (or baked goods) for “summer  school”….

We have had reports from all over town on this and from anywhere between the morning  to early evening hours ….

So here is our problem … Everyone that has called has reported that they thought the situation was suspicious so they did not give him (or the child) any money …

….SO …. we need to hear if anyone has had a similar occurrence over the past few days … or …. if anyone has actually given money to the subject and thinks they may have been duped ….

Likewise … please be on the lookout for anyone meeting the descriptors or circumstances listed above and contact us …. Sooner than later so we can attempt to make contact with the individual….

If anyone has leads on this – please do not post them here (… our Facebook page IS NOT monitored 24-7 …) Please instead contact Sergeant Derek Poundstone at 203-720-7283 or email him at dpoundstone@naugatuckpd.org … You can also call the NPD confidential tip line at 203-720-1010 or email CRIMETIPS@naugatuckpd.org.
