3/15/2016 - 3/15/16 - NPD Call Actvity Report for Monday / IRS Scam Tips

Happy Monday Everyone,

Its going to clear up later today…at least that’s what the weather forecasters are predicting… Until then leave yourselves time to get to where you’re going as everything is wet out there this morning…

I would like to remind citizens of several frauds that have been occurring in the area over the last few weeks and point out some general “red flags” associated with these scams. The “IRS” scam is one example.  The IRS scam involves persons contacting you advising they are IRS agents and that you owe money … The first clue that this is not legit – they DEMAND payment right now in the form of a money wire or pre paid credit card – The IRS will never require you to pay via immediate money wires or prepaid credit cards. Any of these “quick payment” scenarios are a huge red flag that the call is a scam.

The Remember Folks, the IRS never threatens … they don’t have to! - The IRS will not refer you to the police … again – They don’t have to!! If you owe the IRS money they won’t call and threaten to arrest you and they will NEVER become rude or obnoxious.

If you receive one of these calls hang up and report it to us so we can warn others or Call the IRS at 800-829-1040. IRS workers can help you
