7/6/2015 - Driver and Suspect vehicle located - July 2nd Evading Incident

The Naugatuck PD has identified the suspect driver and have seized the vehicle believed to have been involved in the July 2nd evading vehicle incident in which Naugatuck Police Officer Robert O’Donnell was struck while directing traffic after the annual Naugatuck fireworks event.
Naugatuck Police interviewed the driver while he was in custody on separate charges at another PD over the weekend and he confessed to operating the vehicle that struck the officer on July 2nd.
Naugatuck Detectives are drafting a search warrant for the vehicle and an arrest warrant for the operator charging him with violations related to the July 2nd evading incident.

Officer O’Donnell was not seriously injured and was treated and released from a local hospital for a minor leg and ankle injury.

Further details regarding the identity of the suspect will be provided upon the arrest of the suspect.
