April 1, 2015

On March 31, 2015 at about 11:45 qM Naugatuck Police were dispatched to the Cumberland Farms store located at 527 North Main Street on a report of a robbery.

A store employee advised that a male subject entered the store wearing a hoodie and a mask and asked him to “give him the money”. The employee advised that the subject did not display a weapon but the entire time the suspect had his hand inside the hoodie pocket. The clerk advised that he gave the subject cash from the register drawer which was estimated to be under $100.00. The suspect then fled in silver Subaru with New Hampshire plates.

A description of the suspect, vehicle and registration was broadcast to surrounding towns and a short time later a Connecticut State Trooper located the vehicle in Waterbury and detained the lone male operator. Naugatuck detectives responded to Waterbury and upon investigation with the suspect they discovered evidence that tied him to the robbery. The subject was placed under arrest and detained by Naugatuck PD.

The suspect was identified as Eric Peil (DOB 10/17/85). Peil was charged with one count each of “Robbery”, “Larceny 6th Degree” and “Breach of Peace”. Peil was held on a $150,000.00 Bond and was scheduled to appear this morning in Waterbury Superior Court.
