NO!!! – Were not REALLY closed … BUT…..We are experiencing power outages all around town… including here at the NPD …

rce Power is reporting that there are about 3100 power outages in the Naugatuck, Waterbury and Prospect areas…with roughly 780 in Naugatuck…
Eversource has stated that they believe the outages are being caused by stress on the wires due to contraction and expansion…..presumably from the weather.
The Naugatuck outages seem to be mostly contained to the Union City area in the industrial park, Route 68 (Prospect Street into Prospect)and Old Waterbury Tpk (into Waterbury on South Main Street where a transformer caught fire…the road is blocked between the Naugatuck line and Baldwin Street… )
We will keep you updated as we obtain more information from the utilities and our officers…
